To race your R7 or NOT to race, that is the question... well My input is DO IT! The bike is a blast to ride and race on the track.

Did my first WERA week at Nelson's Ledges. Everything went well bike handles great. Brakes are more than competitive, suspension once tuned is super stable and planted, all around great bike once sorted.
1 flaw I will admit, wish there was some more power.

If your on the fence atleast GO do a track day!!! Safe environment, you will learn a ton, you will expand on your skill and talents. If you have any questions ask away, I'd be glad to help and there are a few more racers that I'm sure will offer support and knowledge.

Be safe everyone!

Always have been standard shift I can run both, but always 1 second faster with standard... both have their pros and cons.

I'm half and half on the bikes. I get screwed up sometimes by shifting the wrong way on the wrong bike. 🤣

Short shift the hell out of it seems to fall on its face about 7 grand. You have it pop out of 5th yet?

I’m running aracer quick shifter It’s not the quick shifter it’s the transmission it’s a known problem back on the mt-07. I’m going to undercut mine this winter should fix the issue. It’s annoying when it does it because it loses all its momentum dropping back to 4th. My biggest complaint is the engine brake/slipper clutch. Just learning it I can make it work just I can’t go through the gear box like I want to

I am using the IRC quick shifter, I have noticed if your oil level isnt just perfect the issue is much much more prevalent. I swapped the Slipper clutch out and have had zero issues with the yoyodyne, works awesome.

I run my oil at top right at 2600ml. I want a suter in mine just waiting until the winter when I build the motor. Most of the problem does come from me wanting to ride it like a 600 and not a twin and sometimes I do get lazy on the last down shift and it will spin up the rear if don’t blip it or feather it out. I also like to grab my down shifts earlier than the bike like at times again riding it like a 600 lol. I’m run a 46 last weekend I probably should’ve tried a 45 but I wanted the bottom end so the aprilias didn’t run off and leave me coming off the corner

I will admit the Aprilia's are fast, Definitely cant ride it like a 600. I do wish there was much power lol
Yes it has good bottom but lacks on the top. You’re looking At about 20 hp difference though so what do except haha. I’m racing against sbk sv and they are tough to race against to but not like the rs660

It doesn't work natively or easily on all the bikes. It might not be good on a dirt bike. My daughter is going to motorcycle training tomorrow and Friday so she can finally get her license to ride the motorcycle I bought her in December 2019. She left for school shortly after then Covid shut the classes down. I'd rather she take an organized class than us riding around together, it will help with insurance costs too. She has ridden dirt bikes, I am not too worried, but I don't want to throw GP shift at her right now.

Her new bike has been broken in, it has thousands of miles on it now. Including a couple trips to tracks. LOL
