Suspension Ignorant question incoming. I've never set up a suspension for my size. At 280 w/gear, obviously I need to re-spring, but does anything else need to be replaced along with the springs? Currently i just run my Multistrada at the rider/passenger/luggage preload setting. lol

You are definitely at the upper end of the springs usefulness, but perhaps not quite out of it. Really close though. A spring change would be best, other changes would depend on what you are planning for the bike. I saw in another thread you plan on some track time. I would think that unless you plan on racing the stock equipment resprung could work out fine for you. I am still running the stock setup for now, my son is a pretty fast rider, and probably outweighs you by a little bit. He's also a bit on the tall side. The bike is working out for both of us on the track and in the canyons.

Yes, I'm plan to hit a couple on my Multistrada first, before I trade it and invest in a bike that will likely be almost fully trackday duty. I swear, I read your name and immediately assume you are someone you are not. A Local Bike shop, www.sportbiketrackgear.com, is owned by Brian Vann, and his son races moto America i think. I thought you were him. Especially since the company is doing a great build of an RZ on their site! lol

I would recommend talking to a local reputable suspension tuner in your area to figure out what best suited to you and they will have all the information needed to get you set up.

I know Sportbike Tracktime usually has trackside tire and suspension service. I hope to take advantage of that. Honestly, I dont know of any local specialists. Anyone know someone in SE Michigan? Lol

Very nice! That’s my favorite peg, and what I have on the bike now in place of the stock peg. So much grip! Where did you get it from, I haven’t found a model number for the evol set yet, I must be searching wrong. If I used a different rear set I’d still use the evol peg.

Well It’s the first time actually riding a Yamaha and a twin on the track. So I had no data for this bike. It handle completely different than what I’m used too. I had way to tall of gearing and could go any higher in rear sprockets because my chain was to short. I was battling trying to get feeling in the front end. The rear had too much grip.

Yeah, I get that, power delivery and engine braking were big differences for me. Geometry can be adjusted some, but stock at least it is supposedly pretty similar to the R6, with a little bit less reach. I found the stock position comfortable, so replacing the clip-ons I wanted the same reach, just move the controls outward a tiny bit. The Woodcraft zero degree clip ons did that for me. I've only owned Yamahas and have an R6, so either I took to it easy or I'm missing something. I hope it's the first thing. 🤣

It was literally my first time actually riding it other than up and down the block so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The track conditions in practice wasn’t the greatest either for getting up to speed. I made tons of progress but I’m battling guy with years of seat time and data at these tracks. I was making major changes every time I came off the track. I was only 2 seconds off of them by the end of the weekend and 1 second off my 400 time. I was getting faster each time I went out and know where my time is at. I’ve got more sprockets and chains coming in and that should help out a lot. I’m running evol tech zero degrees they fit me well and are my favorite. I’ve tried other brand that offer them but I always end back up on evol tech

I like the evol rear sets, now that I know he's making them it has been moved up the list. I mostly like the pegs, which I am running now on the stock mount.
Yeah, track knowledge helps a lot. Also ability. I could be on the R6 or R1 and Rocco Landers would BLOW by me on the 400 when he was racing it. It's like, I guess I'll just stop for lunch, ho hum. 🤣

Yeah he’s also making clamps but I think they are going to be a limited run of them I getting a set for when he is done with them. He’s also making a link for the rear too. I have the robem one but I’m going to get his as well and try it out when he comes out with it and see witch one I like more.
