What a horrible motorbike, I'm devastated I bought one. Yamaha need to bring back the r6. Do not bother buying the r7 if you like power

🤣 Welcome no0b. Go back to your turbo 'busa
It pays to research what you're purchasing before you actually buy it. Chalk it up to your own ignorance if you're that devastated about it.

With only 74HP don’t expect a speed demon. Power isn’t everything. I will take a good handling bike over power. On the more technical tracks, a good handling bike is a blast to ride!!! I have a big grin on my face when I pass a bigger bike in the turns on my 400!
The dealers can’t keep the R7 on the showroom floor for long!

The R7 suspension is garbage. Fact!! It's bottom of the bin Yamaha garbage.
Yamaha missed the mark on the r7. Sorry everyone, Unlike some, I saw it for what it was, acknowledged the mistake and dumped it.

I'm sure the guys you pass in the turns have bigger grins when they pass you as you run out of steam. The statement of I pass bigger bikes in the turns cracks me up.

Small and mid-sized fours are great for racing but they're not as practical for street use as twins are with their low octane sipping, pass-in-any-gear torque. Seems like the less cylinders I have under me, the funner the ride.

Sure the bigger bikes pass me in the straights, but I either late brake them or pass them back in the next turn. The suspension on the 400 is super soft, bargain basement. But very cheap too upgrade. The smaller bikes teach you corner speed and much less tiring too ride! AND the tires last much longer.

Thankfully, these bikes are in such great demand that I’m sure you had no problem, selling it and getting a motorcycle better suited for your requirements.

As others suggested it really pays to do your research ahead of time and to do a demo ride at a dealership before purchase.

However, bad mouthing it, without giving any specific reasons is rather pointless. Best of luck to you and your next moto.

In the Northeast used R7s are going for around 8500 with many over 10/k!!! I am waiting for the prices too come down but that doesn’t look likely any time soon. The prices of the Ninja 400 is still very high. Most are going for 5/k or higher.
I know exactly what you mean, @JFMGSXR750 as I’m in the NE as well. Many dealers are adding on crazy fees on new R7’s as well.
Dealer gave me what I paid for mine when I traded it in, also offered me 13k for my r6, the inventory is low on new and used regardless of brand. If your thinking about selling a bike, now is the time to do it.

@Twiztidr7 Reading some of your comments, what moto is next for you, being you offloaded your R7 & R6?
I appreciate what you said wt regard to the suspension. Given the low entry point of the R7, my first mods will be replacing wt a farrr better susp. for street n trackdays.

I kept the r6, not letting that one go,it was the last year for them and I wont be able to ever get another new one. Tho it was tempting.

I traded the r7 in for a 60th r1.

J D,

When it came to the suspension, I had tried everything and no matter what I did it didn't feel any different, couple that with the other upgrades I had already done I was pissed. I couldn't in good conscience throw anymore money at it. I cut my losses and moved on.

I'm not saying it's a bad bike, it just wasn't for me, I bought it thinking I would use if for my daily commute over my r6 due to being more street friendly in regards to usable torque That wasn't the case. I had it for 3months and had 504 miles when I traded it.
@Twiztidr7 what did you do as far as suspension goes?
