R7 Owner To-Be

Hey everyone, Eric here. Put a down payment on my first bike, the 60th Anniversary R7. I was told it should be coming some time in June but it sounds like I'm not the only one who has a long wait.

Any recommendations on sliders? Thinking about getting them from the start to be safe. Also looking to get a slip on exhaust over the next couple of months. From what I've previously read there doesn't really seem to be too many options (if any at all) and I'm trying to avoid a full exhaust.

Thanks in advance and I'll definitely share pics when it arrives!

Well done. The 60th bikes are sweet and kinda rare.
Welcome.
Welcome in the world of motorbike riders. 60th anniversary is a real beauty.

What I heard about motorbike riding, you do not need an aftermarket exhaust. All Japanese bikes are delivery with one installed.
More reasonable way to go is, save the money for useful protective gear and spend a lot for rider trainings. There is so much to learn and this can only achieved by hours and miles and a proper advise or coaching.

There is no traditional slip-ons, you can change the exhaust tip, but it does not change the sound.

I also got 60th Anniversary and I did go with a full system from Akrapovic.

Most of this class of bikes (Ninja 650, CBR650R, R7) don't have a slip on option as the factory exhaust is all one piece. If you want to get an exhaust it has to be a full system.
As for sliders, since the base frame is the same as MT-07, they are interchangeable. Tho since R7 has plastics it is slightly wider, so the sliders might seem a little short. Don't know if anyone makes longer R7 specific ones, but brands like Woodcraft are a good bet for any mods in general.
Thanks everyone! I was just hoping to change the sound of the exhaust since the stock one does sound a bit light. Not really looking for it to add much power or anything. I live in the NYC area so more power isnt really neccessary. So would an exhaust tip make sense for me? Trying to avoid the full system because of the extra money and extra headache like flash ECU. I'm admittedly not well versed here so open to suggestions.

As far as gear, I didnt cheap out. I'm waiting for my Revzilla order but I got an Arai helmet and the Alpinestars GP Plus R V3 Jacket. I took the basic MSF course when I got licensed a few years ago but I wasnt able to ride frequently since then. I am looking to take their more advanced courses as I put more miles in.

Also, what do you guys pay (ballpark) for full coverage? 4 insurance companies quoted me $420-485 a month (absolutely insane) but Statefarm quoted me like $80-90 a month. I'm a bit surprised at the difference and the policies seems to have the same stuff. Am I missing something?

I think exhaust tip literally mounts on top of the stock one for aesthetics.
There's basically no other way to change sound (apart from drilling a few holes) other than full exhaust..

I have the Evotech frame and front /rear sliders. They are great quality and they really protect the bike. i got em at motivationusa.com .. you can read about it.

Thanks! Will definitely look into these.

So I called the dealership this week cause they told me the bike was coming in June, but now they're telling me late July at best (and to be honest i have a feeling I won't get it by then either). Anyone else have a ridiculous wait? I tried calling dozens of dealership in the tristate area but no one has any inventory at all. Really hoping to get it before the season is over
FINALLY got the call that it has arrived! Getting it delivered on Thurs. Pics to come!
