So I put in 2.75 US qt (with a new filter) as instructed in the manual (and many other videos I’ve watched) and that’s what I did. When the bike is off after letting it run for a little while and letting it settle the window was totally full when the bike was upright. Why would this be? Overfilled? But when running it was perfectly centered.

What I ended up doing is cracking the drain bolt a little and letting some drip out until it was halfway full in the window after letting it run and settle, but now when running it appears as though there is nothing in the window.

Was it fine that first time and to low now, or was it indeed probably overfilled somehow?! What did y’all do?

I appreciate any responses.

It's normal to not see any in the window when it's running, it's all up and around the engine then. Once warm, level parked, engine off for a couple minutes, the level being in the window is technically acceptable, I prefer upper half of the window, that gives you more room for burn off/usage.

On refill I usually fill to the upper part of window, start the bike, let it run for a couple minutes, engine off, check it minutes later and top it off to upper part of the window. I've tried measuring per the specs before, it always off a bit from residual oil left, so I just use the window.

Samething happened with mine. I would say as long as you made sure it was drained fully and you know the amount you put in was correct then just leave it and don't worry about what the window says. I also looked at some FZ 07 forums since we do share the same engine and I found a few cases where the samething was happening with a few others. I cracked the drain bolt on mine as well and let a little out but I didn't wanna let too much go. I'll probably just do 2.50 quarts next time and call it good. But yeah there's not supposed to be any showing in the window while the bike is running so that's completely normal.
