Emblem removal

Wassup my fellow riders!! Does anyone know how to remove the Yamaha emblems on the tank fender? I want to replace them with blue ones. Is there an adhesive or does it just pop off?

It has 2 sided emblem tape holding it on.
Heat gun and some thin wire. Heat the emblem up then put the thin wire (fishing wire works) behind the emblem and just keep working it back and forth. I was able to get mine off with just heat and applying gradual pressure at various points around the emblem.

I would not use these emblems... I purchased the same exact ones and they look very nice in the image and in person. Unfortunately after having installed them the blue color has almost completely faded into a chrome in less than 2 months.

May be difficult to tell from this photo because again, they have faded into a Chrome and it is picking up reflection from the paint but the blue is almost completely gone.

Im looking into some resin coated ones and will try to update everyone on what i find.

Hope this helps

I can't seem to find anyone that sells exactly what I want. I would like something that looks very similar to the emblems in this thread that will actually last.

So I reached out to some one that creates custom car emblems but they wanted to charge $175 for (2) 50mm emblems.

To give you an update on where I'm at now...

I ordered touch up Paint/Clear Coat that is specifically for the 2022 YZF-R7 (Blue) and I'm going to strip the chrome color off of the emblems and Paint / Clear Coat the emblems myself and then do Clear Epoxy over it.

I ordered (8) more emblems since they're inexpensive, so I can take some practice runs at it and make sure I get at least 2 flawless emblems for my bike.

I will post pics in this thread once I have a final product and we can see how they turn out!

@joneal8383 I got an update for you!

Man... this has had some trial and error forsure 🤣 So the paint that I ordered is from scratcheshappen.com, it is color matched for the R7 and it looks great! Highly recommend if anyone needs it for touch ups for any scratches. Unfortunately the only experience I have with paint is with a roller, painting walls.

I found from my experience the paint really needs to be put on pretty heavy with the initial application or it comes out looking very streaky on the emblems. It's difficult because with so much paint on this tiny brush and fine lines on the Yamaha logo its easy for the paint to bleed off in places you dont want it to go.

After a few attempts I've got a result I'm happy with but they're not finished. I still need to put on the clear coat to protect the paint (scratcheshappen.com says for the paint to be truly color matched the clear coat has to be applied) but I thought I would post some photos of the progress.

I think the photo looks very close to the stock photo originally posted in this thread 😀 but this paint will last a lot longer than 1 month without getting completely faded out!

I am undecided on if I want to even do the epoxy... I will probably do a test run on some of the other emblems just to see how it looks and go from there. But I may just clear coat these and put them on the bike as is. I'll post photos of final product once they're on the bike.
Painting some more since I ordered extra emblems. Ordered some 50mm silicone molds to do some runs with the Epoxy over it.

The Emblem on the bottom Right is unpainted and has the factory "Blue Chrome" nice reference to how the paint looks in comparison.

Here is a comparison photo of the Emblem on my bike which shows how faded that "Blue Chrome" got after only a couple of months next to a Emblem I painted my self.

Final product with Epoxy coating... put this set on here going to live with a bit and see how I like it... may make some adjustments with other emblems to see if I can get something I like more. But overall I am pretty happy with it and I know they're going to last.
