I just purchased a new r7.

Before next season, in NY that is, I intend to install the Spark Grid-0 exhaust system and a DNA air filter.

Is an ECU flash needed to prevent damage or is it just ideal in terms of maximizing power gained from the mods?

I wouldn't even change the exhaust without flashing the ECU until we see some dyno runs and AFR figures but that's me. A change to the intake without a flash isn't something I'd wanna be the first to test. The ECU isn't the same one used on the MT either so who knows?

Have you seen the new DynoJet Power Commander V for the R7?

I'm new to the motorcycle world. Cars have been my wheelhouse for the last 20 years. Even so, I can't electronically remap the afr table for a car or motorcycle. But I can tell you who to see about a car.

Is there a reputable company that is known for making tunes for use with the Power Commander? Is that even a thing? Or does DynoJet create the tunes exclusively?

There is a module that is marketed for the R7 but there's no tunes available through dynojet.

2 Wheel Dyno Works tunes these bikes. They tuned my bike and it made a very nice difference in power, throttle , temps etc.

You sent them your ecu and they reprogrammed it? Did you do any mods before the tune?

The fan kicks in at 204F while idling. No idea what it was before the flash. I will say power is very smooth now and top end I can definitely feel the increase. Worth what I paid for sure. Got a CEL after plugging it back in but went away after a couple rides and filling up with premium gas. 2WheelDynoworks were very fast returning it and always answered my questions via email fast.

Are you running cooler after the tune?

I think the fan is controlled by a thermo switch, not the ECU. If it comes on earlier, doesn't that mean it's getting hotter sooner since it still switches on at the same temperature it did before the flash?

The tune has the fans come on to keep the temps under 200. Stock the temps can be higher than that at the normal
