ASV Levers: Can anyone help us develop a brake lever

Hi all,

I work with the owner here at ASV Inventions and we are having no luck getting parts to R&D a new brake lever for the R7. All of our dealers and suppliers are out of stock till Mid-next year. We need a brake lever and the brake master cylinder for about 2-3 weeks. In exchange, you will give you a full brake and clutch set for free in any color combo you like. Keep in mind you probably wont be able to ride while we are developing the lever.

We are based out of Huntington Beach, California and we would prefer someone local but are also open to someone mailing us parts.

FINAL UPDATE: We will be officially announcing the R7 levers tomorrow on IG and on our website, but they are available now on the ASV website. Thank you VANSMACK for your huge help. He will be receiving his complementary set very shortly. It's been a long road and I'm excited we are finally here.

Sorry, I was concerned any direct links or referrals would be in violation of the commercial posting restriction. But if you use the "Find Your Bike" tool or the applications chart, you should have no trouble finding the right levers

@asvinventions The C5 brake lever page is still showing as “404 Error - Page not found”.

That is the correct link, I can confirm that it displays fine on my Google Chrome

Hmm. I just tried chrome and got the same error. Safari didn’t work either. I am on my phone though. I’ll go fire up the PC and check.
It’s working now. Just placed my order!

I purchased my C5 shorties back in November and just used it without the ability to activate the brake light (used my rear brake lever to illuminate brake light) which works great, but I would like to have the brake light activated with the front brake only…

Is it possible to just purchase the new attachment for the R7 brake light and install it using my existing C5 shorty lever? Or do I have to purchase an entirely new lever?

Hi Bob, normally the best option would be to purchase a new lever, but send me a message [email protected] with your order info or purchase info and I'll see if we can hook you up.
I purchased my c5 levers set and noticed when I installed the brake lever and started the bike up, the brake light was on without me pulling the lever and stepping on the rear brake pedal. Thought I had to just take it for a test ride to break it in. Luckily coming to a stop light, as I was slowing down, the brakes locked up on me and came to a dead sudden stop. Tried to push the bike to the side of the road but it wouldn’t move. Checked the brake lever and it was already stiff as hell and the lever wasn’t even pulled back at all. Whatever that piece is that tiny piece that clicks when pulling the lever is, it was too much clearance is my guess as to why my brakes were applied the whole time and got tighter until it locked up on me and it had cut off when it came to a sudden stop. I’m guessing this is what we’re discussing here? Luckily I had my tools on me and removed the lever n rode home with my rear brakes. Just glad the cars behind me reacted fast enough to avoid hitting me.

That's a common problem with aftermarket levers made in China. Is that where these are being made?
